Ask Me Anything
Why does this blog exist?
As a millennial, I want a low-stakes way of keeping track of my travels around the globe. I started documenting my travels through blogging and vlogging during my freshman year of college, and while I don't blog as often as I would like, I did enjoy sharing my adventures with friends who asked about them. Moreover, this blog was created as a service project during my tenure as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship recipient of the U.S. Department of State and serves as a resource for college students aspiring to get funded to travel to new places.
Who should read this blog?
I've also picked up some tips and tricks along the way to fund the various study abroad programs I have attended as a student, in addition to financing my international research conferences where I present peer-reviewed research. I imagine this blog as an ad-hoc roadmap—sprinkled with whimsy and wonder—to help others get started on their own globetrotting. For those who have more questions beyond this FAQ, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this page!
What was your first job?
During the summer between high school graduation and college freshman orientation, I completed an engineering internship for Boeing! I inspected commodities for compliance on payload certification walks aboard 737 jet airliners and consulted with head engineers to perform root cause analysis on defective interior assets. This was my first ever paid gig, and it exposed me to the beauty of flight.
What are your travel goals?
What drives you?
I grew up in the poorest city of Washington State and I'm hyper-aware of how much of a privilege travel is for those living under the poverty line. I document my stories so that my younger cousins who also grew up in Wapato can read about what I've experienced.
