When I heard that my fraternity was planning a trip to Vancouver with the Sigmas during spring break weekend, I was excited—to say the least. I’d never been to Canada before, and I knew my bros would take me to all the best places. So on the Friday of finals week at UW, everyone in Sundona’s car—including Ryuji, Cuong, Stephanie, and me—left Seattle midday. Before we left the state, we had lunch at Carl’s Jr. and met up with Wilson’s group—including Yola, Nanda, Nancy, and Frankie—at the Seattle Premium Outlet to do some last-minute shopping. (Frankie hooked me up with some fly kicks.) Afterward, we headed to a nearby Bank of America and exchanged American money for Canadian currency that consisted of loonies ($1 coins), toonies ($2 coins), and multicolored paper bills. After a couple of basic questions and passport reviews from border patrol, we finally entered Canada—hours later than everyone else.

It was strange to see so many Canadian flags billowing freely on the windows of the local cars. Vancouver wasn’t that different from Seattle in terms of its scenery. It’s a city full of industrial buildings with an urban landscape. Eventually, all groups—more than 20 people overall—checked into the Renaissance Hotel, and the weekend was about to begin. Luckily,
Cuong and Stephanie brought their cameras to document the entire experience.

To be honest I really don't care about the money thought had my grandpa with the money or my bother with the money at the time. The place where I went was not much to do but had a good time to see my cousins up there did a lot of stuff with them. How was it to be up in Canada for the first time?
