Our balcony view of the property—we woke up to this every morning! |
A seemingly never-ending row of palm trees greeted us on our cab ride from the airport to the Paradise Village resort on a Sunday afternoon. After checking in with the receptionist, Val and I were greeted with free drinks and were ushered into a welcome party where I happened to win a raffle prize for a tropical buffet dinner. Our spacious suite came with its own fully stocked kitchen and a stunning ocean-side balcony view that overlooked a lively pool scene. Rows of palapas extended to the shore to complete the view along the horizon. We were only an hour into our week-long stay, and I couldn’t have been in a more upbeat mood.

The following day, we were given a tour of the resort (it was part of the sales presentation which I’ll talk about in a different post) where we took a bus to different places around the property. The property as a whole felt clean and well maintained. We were informed that part of their nonprofit branch gave refuge to animals like tigers and parrots, which they had on display in the welcome area. Amenities were also top-notch. The gym (that Val and I didn’t use because we were on relaxation mode) was well-equipped and the vast space they dedicated toward their golf course and tennis courts were impressive.

What we did capitalize on the most were the spa treatments—we treated ourselves to a couples massage and numerous hydrotherapy sessions complete with a jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. We typically ended every night in the resort with a sunset walk along the beach that was directly attached to the resort. The spotty Wi-Fi connection was a noticeable area of improvement, but that didn’t deter us too much as we were supposed to be sequestered from our digital responsibilities.
The pools were often accompanied by lively music. |
The people employed at the resort were amiable and accommodating to our Spanish-speaking abilities. The cleaning ladies were wonderful to talk with, and servers at the resort’s Il Pescatore Restaurant provided us with reliable recommendations that fulfilled our seafood cravings. We ordered room service several nights when we didn’t want to leave our suite, which quickly delivered all of our meals within 20 minutes or less. I liked that we pretty much saw the same employees who regularly greeted us day in and day out in our resort routines.
Seafood at Paradise Village was always fresh to taste! |
Departure was a smooth process. The resort has a great relationship with local transportation and arranged for us to return to the PVR airport. I’m delighted Val took me to Paradise Village (which recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary)—it offered the respite we were looking for after an immensely stressful academic year. She’s been arriving to the same resort for years since her childhood, and I can see why her parents have invested a couple of properties on such a beautiful place. My next trip to Mexico will most likely be to Cancún next year, and I’m curious to see how regional differences compare across the country.
I've always loved your blogs!! Makes me feel like I can see and experience the joys of traveling too! Looks like it was a lot of fun, I'm glad you both got the chance to relax and have fun in a new and exciting place! Awesome pics!
